Josh Spitalnick, PhD, ABPP
Dr. Spitalnick is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Board Certified in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology, and Clinical Director of Anxiety Specialists of Atlanta, an outpatient clinic in Dunwoody, Ga. Dr. Spitalnick specializes in the delivery of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to treat OCD, social anxiety and selective mutism, phobias and panic, mood disorders, stress and trauma, medical and health issues, and everyday life challenges. He is a Board Member for OCD Georgia and holds an appointment as Adjunct Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at Emory University’s School of Medicine where he trains physicians and other health care providers in the delivery of CBT.
Dr. Spitalnick is an Exposure Therapy specialist (in vivo, imaginal, interoceptive, virtual reality and technology-augmented exposure) used in treating OCD, Social Anxiety, Selective Mutism, Phobias, and other related anxiety disorders. He remains active in the scientific community with regards to exposure-based research treatment studies, trains and supervises other healthcare providers in these techniques, serves in a consulting capacity to various anxiety specialty clinics, and presents on advances in exposure therapy and technology-augmented interventions at various professional conferences.
In addition to his role as a clinician, Dr. Spitalnick is active as a research scientist specializing in healthcare-related technologies. Dr. Spitalnick has been PI and co-PI for numerous National Institute of Health grants to evaluate a myriad of topics, including childhood and adolescent anxiety, social phobia, OCD, PTSD, risk prevention, and chronic disease management.
