Karen Jacob, MSW/LCSW
Karen Jacob received her MSW in 1995 from the Columbia University School of Social Work. She also has an MA in Organizational Psychology from Teachers College (Columbia University), that was obtained in 1993.
Karen has worked in various clinical positions, including as a Clinician/Case Manager for an Employee Assistance Program for 7 years, and as a Counselor at Jewish Family Services for 5 years, treating children, adolescents and adults. Part of her role at Jewish Family Services has been to consult at a local Early Childhood Center.
She has been working in private practice for several years with clients of all ages, specializing in Anxiety Disorders. She has a sub-specialty in Selective Mutism, as it is an area of great interest due to the fact that she has a child who was diagnosed with SM 6 years ago.
Karen has a great deal of knowledge and experience, as a clinician and as a parent. She works with clients and their parents, as well as collaborating with schools, camps, and other organizations that the client is involved with. Karen believes it is important to have cooperation and assistance from the various individuals who are coming into contact and interacting with the client in order to ensure that there is consistency. She has been working with children and adolescents of various ages, who have Selective Mutism and feel that it is extremely critical to tailor treatment to clients based on their individual needs.
