Maria João Silva is a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist. She holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Coimbra, Portugal, a Postgraduation in Integrative Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children and adolescents, and specialized education in Third-Generation Therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT).

With more than 13 years of experience, Maria João currently practices at PIN – Em todas as fases da vida, in Lisbon, Portugal, with a strong focus on children and teenagers. At this private clinic, she coordinates the Anxiety and Selective Mutism Unit and delivers training, supervision, psychological assessment and psychotherapy.

Maria João has been taking, organizing and participating in multiple national and international conferences and seminars on Anxiety and Selective Mutism. She has also been active in the Portuguese written media, having authored a chapter dedicated to Anxiety, in the book “Sentidos: O Grande Livro das Perturbações do Desenvolvimento e Comportamento”, and co-authored “O Livro das Emoções”, a children’s book on emotions.
