Meredith Polsky has been working at the intersection of social work and special education for more than 20 years, having founded Matan in the year 2000. She developed a passion for working with children with Selective Mutism in 2010 when her own children were diagnosed as preschoolers. She works with children in their natural environments – schools, playgrounds, etc. – to help them establish and solidify their ability to speak to a wide range of people in a variety of settings.

Meredith holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University, a Master’s degree in Special Education from Bank Street College, and a graduate certificate in Early Intervention from Georgetown University. Meredith is co-author of the award-winning I Have a Question children’s book series, including I Have a Question about Death, I Have a Question about Divorce, and I Have a Question about Cancer (Jessica Kingsley Publishers, 2017, 2018 and 2019, respectively).
