WeSpeak – a behavioral group intensive designed specifically for older youth with SM and significant social anxiety – will be conducted virtually in December 2020. We saw tremendous success with our August virtual WeSpeak, and are excited to offer another round this winter!
The core elements of the WeSpeak program have all been adapted to a virtual platform, including warm-up activities, psychoeducation, anxiety skill application, social skills practice, presentations, partner work, and more. Virtual WeSpeak continues the one-to-one mentor model so that each child has a trained adult working with them to provide support and guide their practice. Goals are highly individualized and modified throughout the program based on progress and needs.
Parent training is also included, so that parents can learn the necessary tools to support and coach their kids after the program. The parent training lessons will be pre-recorded so parents can watch the videos prior to the start of the program. There is then a one-hour parent training session in the afternoons dedicated to individualized questions, discussion, and application of skills.
