One of the most challenging consequences of Covid-19 for kids has been social isolation. During this time, kids may not be able to hang out together and pursue their interests/hobbies in a social setting.
CAAP began running virtual after school clubs in the spring to ensure that social needs are still being met during this time, and will be continuing running them through the winter. The clubs bring kids with similar interests together in a structured, social environment.
Virtual after school clubs are appropriate for kids who:
• are experiencing a void in socialization due to covid-19
• have had difficulty maintaining social connections during this time
• do not have social connections outside of school
• have social anxiety with unfamiliar peers and/or in groups
• would benefit from additional social structure
We offer a variety of clubs, which are selected based on shared interests/hobbies of participating kids. Dr. Shelley Avny leads the clubs, including structuring and guiding the activities, facilitating social interaction, and encouraging group work and sharing. Clubs begin on a rolling basis and run for 45 minutes a week for six weeks.
Sample clubs: Photography, cooking, trivia, arts/crafts, games
Cost: $350 for a 6-week cycle
