Mighty Mouth Kids Camp for children with selective mutism (SM) will be running completely online this winter. While COVID-19 has kept us socially distanced, we fully redesigned this special SM treatment program to take full advantage of the situation.
Mighty Mouth Kids is the intensive group behavioral treatment model developed by our own Dr. Steven Kurtz and is now accepted as a gold standard treatment for selective mutism (SM). Mighty Mouth simulates a virtual classroom and social setting where the children get repeated practice successfully talking with teachers and peers even while they are home with you. We train the parents to be the agents of change to help the kids talk in the same situations that became “contaminated,” where they were unable to speak in morning meetings, Show ‘n’ Tell, etc.
Dates:
July 19th-23rd: Parent training group online
July 26th-31st: Lead-in sessions guided by the therapists/counselors
August 2nd-6th: Camp week and simultaneous parent training
