Investigation of how technology can be used to promote the development of communication skills amongst children with Selective Mutism. Posted April 24, 2014

Some members of the Computer Science Department at Montclair State University are investigating how technology can be used to encourage communication and promote the development of communication skills amongst children with Selective Mutism.

The purpose of this study is to create technology that can help children communicate. In this research study, parents will be asked some general questions by phone about Selective Mutism and technology. Also, children can give their input about what type of technology they would like to see. Participation in this study is voluntary, and parents/children may stop being in the study at any time. For this study, we are relying on parents reporting that their child has Selective Mutism.
