Carly Mayer, PsyD
Dr. Carly Mayer is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the treatment of selective mutism, disruptive behavior disorders, and anxiety. She provides evidence-based interventions using cognitive and behavioral approaches in her work with children, adolescents, and their families to address anxious and disruptive behaviors. Dr. Carly specializes in intensive interventions for children and adolescents with selective mutism and runs weekly virtual treatment groups for children with SM. Dr. Carly is a certified specialist in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for Selective Mutism, demonstrating expertise and high fidelity to the PCIT-SM model. She is approved to train others in this technique as well. She was the previous Director of Mighty Mouth Kids at Kurtz Psychology, an intensive selective mutism camp and participated in WeSpeak, a group intensive treatment for 10-14 year old children with Selective Mutism.
Dr. Carly is certified by PCIT International as a Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) therapist, which uses live coaching to help caregivers manage disruptive behaviors in young children. She is also certified as a within-agency trainer and is able to train other therapists to use the same protocol. Dr. Carly is a New York State Certified School Psychologist and regularly collaborates with educational teams to support therapeutic interventions compatible with educational goals. She often incorporates her trained therapy dog, Remi, into clinical work with anxious and behavioral children.
