Dr. Courtney Keeton is a licensed psychologist in Baltimore Maryland. She is an assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine located in downtown East Baltimore. Dr. Keeton specializes in research and treatment of pediatric anxiety disorders including selective mutism. She spends her time as an investigator on various intervention studies, a clinician providing outpatient treatment to children and their families, and a teacher to child psychiatry fellows.

Dr. Keeton’s psychological treatment approach is based on strategies that are validated by research. She teaches children and their families cognitive and behavioral skills to help lower anxiety, manage physical symptoms, and gradually face feared situations with confidence. These skills are taught and practiced in the clinic setting and the child’s “real world.” In addition, Dr. Keeton consults with school personnel and works with parents to establish treatment goals and opportunities for speech practice, and to routinely measure progress
