Dr. Jaime L. Benson is a licensed psychologist and Nationally Certified School Psychologist at the Behavior Management Clinic within the Department of Behavioral Psychology at the Kennedy Krieger Institute. She is currently serving as the Associate Director of the Behavior Management Clinic and provides clinical supervision for the postdoctoral fellowship training program.

Dr. Benson graduated from Syracuse University in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology and a minor in Education Studies. She received her doctoral degree in 2011 from Lehigh University in School Psychology with a subspecialization in Pediatric School Psychology. Dr. Benson completed an APA-approved pre-doctoral internship at the Munroe Meyer Institute, which is part of the Nebraska Internship Consortium in Professional Psychology, in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Benson completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and the Department of Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Benson is a licensed psychologist in the state of Maryland and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. She is a member of the American Psychological Association (Division 54 and Division 16) and the National Association of School Psychologists. Dr. Benson has attended specialized trainings in order to gain expertise in working with young children and school-age children selective mutism and other anxiety disorders. Dr. Benson is also a Level 1 trainer for Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and has receiving training in modifying this approach to address selective mutism and other anxiety disorders in children.

Serving Military Families:
Dr. Benson has provided direct clinical services to military-connected children and families since 2011. As part of her post-doctoral fellowship training at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, Dr. Benson participated in several departmental trainings that focused on the military community. She has attended Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) National Training Seminar, as well as other MCEC trainings, in order to ensure the delivery of culturally competent care and to address the unique needs of military families.
