Dr. Kaitlyn Wilbur Smith is a licensed clinical psychologist and the Director of Selective Mutism Services at the Boston Child Study Center. She specializes in the treatment of anxiety, mood, and disruptive behavior disorders in children, adolescents, and young adults. Dr. Smith provides evidence-based cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT). Dr. Smith is a Certified PCIT Therapist by PCIT International and is clinically trained in treatment adaptations for selective mutism (PCIT-SM) and anxiety (PCIT-CALM).

Dr. Smith especially loves PCIT and working closely with children and their families. With older children with SM, Dr. Smith implements CBT with exposure therapy in conjunction with parent coaching as needed. She is committed to using evidence-based treatments while also incorporating an individualized approach and collaborating with caregivers and school personnel. Dr. Smith additionally provides school consultation services.

Dr. Smith received her Doctorate of Psychology, with a specialization in children and adolescents, from the University of Hartford. Dr. Smith completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Boston Child Study Center, where she received intensive clinical training and supervision in DBT, CBT, and PCIT. Prior to her fellowship, she completed an APA-accredited predoctoral internship at Franciscan Children’s in Brighton, MA. There, she primarily worked in the community based acute treatment (CBAT) program, an intensive, short-term acute residential unit for youth aged 4-14.
