Kendra Read, Ph. D.
Kendra Read, PhD is a clinical psychologist, director of Mood and Anxiety Program, and Director of Anxiety Programs at Seattle Children’s., She is an assistant professor through the University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She is a licensed clinical psychologist in Washington state and specializes in the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders (including selective mutism) and OCD in youth, including when these disorders overlap with other difficulties (e.g., behavioral difficulties, autism, pain, eating, adherence to medical care regimens). Specifically, she has expertise in cognitive-behavioral therapy focusing on exposures.
Dr. Read received her PhD in clinical psychology from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA under the mentorship of Philip Kendall, Ph.D., after completing several training experiences at Nemours/A. I. duPont Hospital for Children and the Child and Adolescent Anxiety Disorders Clinic (CAADC) at Temple University. Dr. Read also received comprehensive training in pediatric psychology at Nemours/A. I. duPont Hospital for Children during her residency year. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the Stanford University School of Medicine in the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Department, specializing in treating youth with anxiety disorders, autism, and eating disorders.
Dr. Read has an extensive background in research. She worked with Philip Kendall, PhD on multiple funded projects throughout graduate school. Her current research interests include examining factors that influence treatment outcome for youth with anxiety disorders, as well as how evidence-based treatments for anxiety disorders are disseminated and implemented to better serve the needs of communities. Dr. Read is also active in the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s training programs as the Director of Psychotherapy Education for the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship through the University of Washington School of Medicine.
