Larissa Labay, Psy.D.
Dr. Labay specializes in providing cognitive behavioral therapy to children and adolescents with selective mutism and other anxiety disorders. She works in private practice at Lifespan Associates and is on medical staff at Hackensack University Medical Center. Dr. Labay utilizes a variety of techniques including systematic desensitization, fading, cognitive restructuring, and relaxation strategies in order to facilitate communication across settings. In addition to providing individual and family therapy to patients with SM, Dr. Labay travels to schools to educate staff about selective mutism and to train them in specific school-based interventions that will generalize communication to the educational setting. She is frequently involved in the 504 and IEP process to help families obtain appropriate accommodations for the school environment.
