Rebecca Sinclair, Ph.D.
Dr. Sinclair is a licensed clinical psychologist and Director of Psychological Services at Brooklyn Minds. After receiving a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at St. John’s University, she completed predoctoral internship at Bellevue Hospital and NYU Child Study Center and completed further postdoctoral training at the Child Family Institute, where she held the dual roles of Director of Intake and Professional Outreach and Director of Konfident Kids, a treatment program for Selective Mutism.
Dr. Sinclair uses evidence-based psychotherapy to enable patients to meet their current goals and reduce current symptoms. These include, but are not limited to, behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and “third-wave” mindfulness-based psychotherapies. She has extensive experience using evidence-based practice to treat disorders including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, depression, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder, phobias, trauma and PTSD trichotillomania/skin picking, selective mutism, oppositional defiant disorders, and ADHD.
Dr. Sinclair has a particular interest in dyadic and parenting work with families of children with anxiety, mood, attentional, and behavioral difficulties, including conducting research examining the cognitive and emotional variables that impact the parenting experience with young children, as well as clinical training in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Dr. Sinclair employs her knowledge working collaboratively with children and their parents to help youth and families struggling with SM across home, school, and peer settings, using a highly structured, results-oriented, and evidence-based treatment approach integrating both family and school contexts.
