Revathi Srinivasan, PhD PSY
Dr. Revathi Srinivasan, (aka as Dr. Reva) is a clinical psychologist with a private practice in Fremont. She has worked with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, children, teens and families for 20 years, including children with selective mutism. Prior to her private practice, she spent 15 years as the Program Coordinator for the early childhood mental health program, City of Fremont Youth and Family Services and more than 5 years as a licensed therapist at a non-profit, agency, Family Paths in Oakland and Fremont.
She has completed a specialized training to work with infants, toddlers and preschoolers (Three-Year Training in Early Child Mental, UCSF Children’s Hospital Benioff 2002). She has provided therapy to hundreds of families, trained and supervised interns, doctoral students and staff. She developed clinical programs and parenting education programs at the City of Fremont. She has provided mental health consultation to preschools and has collaborated with school staff and educated parents on advocating for their children.
Dr. Reva works collaboratively with parents sharing her knowledge and experience, so that parents can get a new perspective about their child’s problems. She uses a combination of theoretical approaches: attachment theory, family systems, and cognitive behavioral therapy and play therapy. Her approach with each family and child is individualized based on the child’s developmental stage, learning style and the family’s cultural beliefs.
Having grown up in India, and living in Unites States for 30 years, Dr. Reva has personal experience as an immigrant and is comfortable working with families from different cultures. She understands the unique challenges of raising bicultural and bilingual children. She is multilingual and in addition to English speaks several Indian languages: Hindi, Tamil and Kannada.
Dr. Reva received her bachelor and master’s degrees in Psychology, at Delhi University, India. She has advanced education in clinical psychology (M.Phil) from NIMHANS, Bangalore, a leading clinical psychology training program in India. She obtained a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology Child-Family Emphasis at Alliant International (formerly CSPP Alameda) in September 1992.
She has completed the Selective Mutism Group’s Selective Mutism Proficiency Program. She is trained in Greenspan’s Floor-Time Model and is a Certified Circle of Security Parent Educator. Dr. Reva has experience and training in autism and completed the UC Davis Mind Institute’s Northern California Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) Program in 2018.
